In its original form, released in April 2017, Beacon’s “Marion” is an arrangement of soft, atmospheric synth pop. Here, in the hands of Los Angeles producer Craig Williams, the track is reimagined for the after hours. Its previous pulse — the strings of a hammered dulcimer — are overcome by a steady kick drum as reconfigured bits of Thomas Mullarney III’s vocal performance heighten the mood by tone rather than lyric. Essentially everything has been uplifted, from wistful to hands-in-the-air bliss.
