Beacon’s 2022 single “Pay My Debts” receives an epic main stage remix from Danish techno titan Kölsch. Kölsch has been teasing the remix all summer long at major festivals in Europe (most recently Tomorrowland) and it now arrives worldwide on Beacon’s own imprint, Apparent Movement.
“Pay My Debts (Kölsch Remix)” utilizes the original single’s haunting vocals and affecting production to manifest a bonafide club anthem. Rune Reilly Kölsch’s inimitable style is on full display: a perfect blend of rich melodies and high precision tension/release techno production.
The original single “Pay My Debts” contains the essence of Beacon’s fourth record, Along the Lethe (2022). Thomas Mullarney III’s vocal hook “no more regrets, no more regrets,” echoes the album’s conceit: The Lethe is one of the five rivers of the underworld in Greek mythology and newly dead who drank from its waters lost all memory of their earthly lives. That tension echoes throughout Kölsch’s cinematic remix, with incessant kicks and rapturous synth stabs that pack a mighty cathartic punch.
Kölsch’s influential electronic productions have stood out over the last decade for their distinctive blend of memorable hooks and powerful main stage production, making him one of the most sought-after DJs on earth.
The new remix builds on previous collaborations between Beacon and Kölsch, with two singles on Kölsch’s 2020 album for Kompakt “Now Here Nowhere.”
